Just writing my medication policy and a little confused by the Ofsted fact sheet (080290). It says:
"If you already have written permission to give a particular over-the-counter medication to a child, and you need to, you do not have to get written permission every time you give it." but I'm sure I read somewhere that "blanket permissions" were frowned on by Ofsted. In any case, I'd want to double check in case the child had been given medicine and the parent hadn't mentioned it. Wouldn't want to over dose, especially with paracetamol.

I have a permission to administer over the counter medicine but still speak to parents prior to administering and ask them to sign accordingly when they collect their child. At the end of the day it means you know the child can have it but you just need the nod from the parents to avoid overdoses.
