The IPPR survey find 8 out of 10 cms against agencies ...
This report is encouraging but we have much work to do...my main concern is where the LAs is to pilot an agency...why and where are they getting their funds from to set up an agency?

Well considering that the Childcare Commission closed last August and we are still awaiting Truss' response a year on ...there is hope yet Sarah that she may read it ...anyone sending it to her? to Clegg?
I have sent it to Sharon Hodgson

I also sent it to my cminding association...no point sending it to my EY as they want to pilot the agency anyway

If cms keep their nerve and not join the agencies could flop...and I hope it's a big belly flop!!!

It's me again...

I have just sent the IPPR report to my MP, Vince Cable, Business Secretary with a gentle reminder agencies will mean loss of independence to cms in running our businesses!

Please forward it to your MP regardless of his size, shape or political leanings...you don't need to write a lengthy email just a short message.
We should forward it to some of the Lords too as they soon debate agencies in their House
I have sent it to Baroness Hughes who raised concerns agencies would pass costs to parents.

This is our last chance..hope you can help!

It's me again ...second time...sorry but you will like this
Baroness Hughes has just replied to my email
My goodness she could teach Truss a thing or two on quick response

This is Baroness Hughes message:

'thank you for sending this. We will indeed draw upon it for our work in the Committee stage of the Bill.

One of our concerns is the potential for increased costs to parents. However, even greater is our concern about the deregulation consequence and especially that childminders in agencies will not be routinely inspected by Ofsted. That is potentially a risk not only to children but also to childminders themselves..

Thank you again- I really appreciate you writing.' (end)

Let's get writing!!!

Well done Simona it sounds like Baroness Hughes has got her head screwed on - shame she can't give Truss a few lessons.

Have just sent e-mail to my MP - David Heath - Minister for the Environment - he hasn't been very helpful so far though!

In my email to Baroness Hughes I had forgotten to say that cms had offered to pay towards the costs of our inspection following Wilshaw statement that we cost too much to register and inspect...so I sent an additional message informing her of this

She said she had not been aware of that and to keep her informed of any extra developments..
I also sent the IPPR to Lord Storey...the one who met with UKCMA

Here is the link...just click on the letter his/her surname starts with
For an MP just address them Dear... but for the Lords it will depend on their title...there is a very quick guide when you get to the Lords section

MPs - UK Parliament (http://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/)

If you wish to write to the Lords that will debate the Children and Families Bill then look out for Lord Storey (Lib Dem) and Baroness Hughes of Stretford (Labour)

Please make this small effort...a delay in the introduction of 'agencies' is better than nothing, Truss does not seem to be able to stop or reflect as she is ploughing ahead with the reforms

We all fought against the ratio issue but the EY workforce is not as vociferous against agencies and backing us....so up to us to be heard and knock on doors

I also know some cms are switching off and feeling totally 'FED UP' with the whole thing and the politicians...some cms are very proactive others are not as they feel others will speak up for them and then I still meet the ones 'sleepwalking' and dreaming that come Sept all will be the same as before...I hope they are right but I doubt it very much!!

Please don't turn away now...Sept is only a few weeks away!!
