I work in a school as an employee and self employed as a childminder.

Last tax year (2012-2013) I made a loss of around £150 from childminding.
Can I carry this loss forward to this tax year or will the tax office write it off.

This is all very new and have no idea what I am doing so thank you to anyone who can help.

Yes next year you can carry over your loss which will effectively mean you have earned less and therefore pay less tax (next year)

Yes having just done mine I am sure it is one of the questions you get asked as you are filling in your return.
