You should find the information you need on the HMRC site here :D

HM Revenue & Customs: How to pay self-employed Class 2 National Insurance (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payinghmrc/class2nics.htm)

Hi Jolen :waving:,

Sorry - I don't quite follow.

When you register with HMRC as self-employed you will automatically be required to pay Class 2 NI contributions. If your profits are low, you then have an option to request a Small Earnings Exemption for a couple of years. But it's definatel an opt-out situation and not an opt-in. The default position is that you pay unless you apply to opt out.

See HMRC website for details: HM Revenue & Customs: Self-employed tax and National Insurance (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/working/intro/selfemployed.htm)

The requests for NI payments go out twice a year, so you should phone HMRC and ask why you've not received your yet.
Hope that helps.

I registered in November of last year and received an invoice through the post last month. Maybe you should enquire when you will get yours?
