Just starting out...need help - Scotland

Hi everyone, just looking for some help i am in the process of completing my registration form to be a childminder in Scotland. I am unsure what to do before you register like do i need to buy toys, fireguard, safety gates, fire exit signs before they register you, what happens if you buy all these things and they dont register you that would be a huge expense paid out for nothing!

I would wait if I were you - get a little further through the process and then go through your standards and chat to other childminders, see what they suggest as a minimum.

Wait until you've had your visit before you buy too much stuff, but make sure you can tell them what you will buy and why eg if you have stairs then tell them you will put a safety gate at the bottom. If you have kids of your own you probably have a lot of the things you'll need but anything you buy make sure you keep the receipts to put through your books as start up costs x
