View Full Version : In hospital tomorrow

As some of you maybe aware we lost our 4th baby in Feb (removal of fetus in March). Tomorrow I am in hospital for 2 painful and intrusive procedures (for which I will be kept fully awake) to ascertain if there is a medical reason as to why we have lost 4 babies. This is also coupled with 14 vials of blood taken in the past week - more blood due to be taken in another week and a follow up appointment with the specialist in just over a month. Hubby has also had to give a special sample to the hospital

I've got the day off work tomorrow but i'm really dreading it as Dr has already advised that it is likely to be very painful and I have to have 2 procedures in 1 hour!!! However they cant put me under for it - unless they need to depending on what they find so its a grin and bear it and strong painkillers 1 hour beforehand.

Wish us luck x

Thank you all - just got home feeling a little sore. I only ended up having 1 of the procedures in the end cos they got the answers from that.

After arriving at the antenatal unit, I broke down and they were brilliant. They took me into a side room with my DH and talked through everything with me and reassured me. I had the procedure which last about 15 minutes and I got to see inside myself (very surreal). Was painful but not unbearable - more painful now afterwards. Then we got the results of this test, bloods and husbands semen sample.

Bloods - normal and I am ovulating
Semen - perfect and strong
Scan - My womb shape and everything else was 'perfect' as the Dr said and she is confident that we will have a successful pregnancy.

She has signed me up to the PROMISE trial which is progesterone tablets to be inserted into the cervix area 2 x 2 a day for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy to help sustain the pregnancy.

Feeling really positive now and hope to get pregnant soon

Thanks all xxx

Glad to hear that everything is sounding positive and I sure it won't be long before you are holding your new baby. I had problems many, many years ago and despite finding something that could hinder my chances I was still lucky enough to have all my boys,so never stop hoping xxx

Hugs Hun sorry you have gone through so many miscarriages. I've had 5 miscarriages but have got two children now. So hopefully things will look up for you now. Was it the dye through tubes and X-ray thing you had? The clear out effect of that procedure can improve chances. Goodluck. Also so Glad they are offering you progesterone. I believe that's what My problem was even though uk drs wouldn't prescribed that at the time. I got it off Internet after reading that that's what they do in the USA for recurrent miscarriages. Glad the Nhs is waking up.
Best of luck and baby dust for you

Hi - yes that was it as well as a camera to have a good look around. Was painful (as to be expected) and its created a little but of after blood but feeling so much more positive today just with slight period like pains. My dr is the UK person who is piloting the progesterone trial which makes me feel very fortunate that I live where I do - but I agree if it is known to help it needs to be available UK wide. xx
