Hi I was qualified to childmind in the September 2012 but didnt get my 1st mindees till November can anyone advise me when I have to do a tax return also will I recieve a letter of some sort telling me to do so any advice will be much appreciated xx

Hi If you registered with HMRC as self employed when you started working as a childminder then they should send you through notification of your tax return for 2012/13 about May 2013. You can either send the paper version of the tax return (which they will send you) in by 31st October or register with them to do it on-line by 31st Jan 2014. Any tax due needs to be paid by 31st jan 2014. Your tax year will run april 2012- march 2013.


If you have not registered as self-employed then you need to do so ASAP.
