Anyone got any experience of running a Woodcraft Folk group or of children attending them? I am interested in setting up one as in this area brownies etc are full and I would like a non-religious group for my daughter to attend so wondered about setting one up....

I've never heard of this but would be interested to see what answers you get.

I used to go when I was young ( about 25 years ago), it was really good. Great for girls and boys of a good wide age range. We learned to respect our environment, each other and did lots of great activities, some outings and camps. I think looking back it was the way we as children were treated as thinking individuals, we were asked what sort of things wed like to do and how we'd like to spend the groups collected money etc. It is just how I imagine brownies/ guides/ scouts etc to be only its got a slightly more 'hippy' feel. You work towards badges and we did first aid, fitness etc, we sang each week, did craft activities and learned a lot.
I loved it and I was painfully shy usually but it helped me to try new things.
