Hi all,

As the title suggests, I have been asked to run a social skills group for one hr per week in a village hall for children (approx 6-8 children at a time). I am hoping that my ncma/ Pacey insurance will cover me as it is based on the person rather than the building and covers outings. However will I have to use contracts for all of the children etc specific to PACEY. Seems extreme for running a social skills group. Would I better to cancel and get some other insurance specific to community groups etc? I will not be being paid a lot for it so don't want to have to fork out on a lot of insurance just yet unless it takes off!

Lottie xx

I would think it is up to whoever is employing you for the hour to arrange PL insurance, also they would need Employer's Liability insurance to cover you as their employee. Your PACEY PL insurance covers you as a self employed childminder but if in doubt give them a call

It is a charity so if I would like to go ahead I will be providing a service as 'self-employed' and then they will pay me for the service. Also this way if it hits off I can then expand the business at which point I will probably find a more specific insurance for the 'job'. As I have already paid for insurance until July this year i'd rather use this if possible up until July xx

I would ring pacey and ask. Alson check in the village hall has a policy you can come under.
