You need to risk assess it according to the age/stage of the children you anticipate to be caring for, it is very individual as it is all about the particular risks in your particular house. Babies?- look at stairs/stair gates, steps, kitchen access, what areas will you need to have supervision. Older children- you may want to look at garden access... boundaries are always important- check your fences are in good condition, garden gates, hedges. Ponds are a risk.

Look for local guidance or training on risk assessing- do you have a support minder who can advise you? Ask your local Family Info Service.

You do not need to have everything in place for pre-reg visit! But you do need to be able to identify risks and talk about how you will minimise the risk- ie: 'we have stairs here which are a risk to babies so we will fit a stair gate.' 'The kitchen has risks of burning and injuries so children will be supervised constantly and closely in the kitchen'. etc etc.
