I'm just getting up to date with my accounts this week & sending out the last invoices that will be included in this tax year. My tax year runs from 31st march to 31st march as I find it easier for expenses etc. this month invoices will be due on 28th march but I have one parent that normally pays about then 6th/7th of the following (this was agreed when contracts were signed) & this month another parent that's away until the 5th April so have said its fine to transfer the money when she gets home. Which tax year should I include this income on or is it up to me to decide?

Thanks x

I could be wrong but my accountant last year only wanted to know what was paid into my account for that tax year regardless of when it was actually due

You are invoicing in March 2013 for April 2013 I believe so it is April's work the invoice is paying for so put it in 13/14.

Your invoices dated 28th March are they for fees in arrears or advance - I would put them through for the month you will be minding for

If the invoice is for end of March for minding you did in March then that invoice is this tax year
If the invoice for end of March is for minding you will be doing in April then that invoice is for tax year 2013/14
