Hi all :)

Just a quick question, I've noticed a lot of permission statements requesting parents to agree to alternative care in an emergency; ie with another childminder if child's emergency contacts can't be there etc...
Just wondered what childminders tend to do about this when they are just starting out? I'm slowly starting to meet other childminders in the area but obviously you want to know someone reasonably well before prociding them as your emergency contact?

Thanks for your help!

Emergency means off to hospital in an ambulance etc a real emergency, in this sort of instance your emergency back up could be your DH, other relative or neighbour it doesn't HAVE to be a childminder. Parent should be familiar with emergency contact and happy for child to be left, emergency contact should only look after child for as long as it takes for them to call parent and child immediately collected.
In a real emergency you can imagine it doesn't always go to plan and you could possibly end up leaving children with a police officer, head teacher etc,you can't really plan for every eventuality and at the end of the day it comes down to parent trusting your best judgement in any given situation.
