Hi can anyone help me with something, is my son who is aged 5 and a half classed as an under 5 for my child ratios?

it all gets confusing , but arn't your number for with out your own child?

Yes that's right - your own children are included when Ofsted decide how many children you can look after but they aren't included on your registration certificate, if that makes sense.

So if you are registered for 3 under 5's then you won't have any children of your own in that age bracket as that's the max you could be registered for of that age.

If your son is age 5 and 1/2 and your only child under 8 the max you will be registered for is 5 under 8 years old.

Not sure I explained that very well

Blimey did not realise that!

So I will be registered for 6 children but my two girls who are 2 and 4 will not be in my ratio of under 8's??

So do I not have to worry about my eldest being a under 5 in school holidays?

Sorry I seem to have confused you - you can only have a maximum of 6 children under eight years old - this WILL include your own children, but your registration certificate will have the number of children you are registered for (and in what age brackets) on it and that WON'T include your own children.
