How long does it take for crb checks to come back?
I applied in October and mine came back at the end of December. I got the call New Years Eve from Ofsted to arrange my visit. About 8 weeks.

They are now called DBS checks - The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) | Home Office (http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crime/vetting-barring-scheme/)
they hope to complete them within 4 - 6 weeks (if I remember rightly) but there can be delays such as Social Services taking longer, if you have moved house a lot, if SAFFA are involved (forces) etc.
