My amazing gran has passed away at the grand old age of 95, she was rushed from her nursing home just over a week ago with breathing difficulties and we were told she was basically dying and was put on the Liverpool care plan which meant all clinical intervention was removed, she was asleep the whole time, our family have spent nearly 24hrs a day at her bedside, there was 8 of us and to pass the time we played eye spy and who could suck a fruit pastel the longest, we reminisced about our gran in younger days and at times it appeared as though she was crying when we were talking. I'm so sad as the night she passed my mum and uncle left as they were so drained they thought they'd get an early night and she died an 1 hr after they'd gone all alone, this I guess is what she wanted as we had all been there nearly the whole time in previous days.
I'm glad in a way she's now at peace I hated seeing her in that bed in the nursing home wasting away and they weighed her at the hospital and she was 6 stone, complete skin and bone, rip nana you will be dearly missed. X

So sorry for your loss. Your memories of your Gran will stay with you forever. I often find myself with tears rolling down my cheeks thinking about my Grandad who dies 4 years ago this year - such lovely happy memories.

It sounds as though you have a close family and I'm sure you'll find much strength and support from each other in the coming days.

Thinking of you x

So sorry for you loss. She knew she was loved dearly and that means a lot. I spent several nights with my own mum, but she was hooked up to monitors and even now on hospital shows I can't bear hearing the beeps. At least you didn't have all the machinery taking over.

So sorry to hear your sad news - I lost my grandad 2 years ago, he was nearly 98 - I just think how lucky I was to have had him in my life and my children's lives for so long.

You often hear that the loved one passed away when the family had gone home or popped to the canteen for a coffee - I think they wait for it to be quiet.

Thinking of you and your family

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like she was a lucky lady having you all around. My dad also 'waited' until lots of us had popped home before he passsed away, I think on some level they do know and that that is what they wanted. Look after each other and come on here if you need us. x
