I have a little cwtch (sorry, Welsh - ummm a little nook under my stairs) where we keep coats and shoes. I had a shoe rack in there which (obviously) I kept all the shoes on, our personal ones and mindees. The kids love playing in the cwtch as it makes the perfect den place but unfortunately just before Christmas my shoe rack took a pounding and fell to pieces. I have now invested (well, the grand sum of £40) in a little shoe cupboard to replace my shoe rack so the shoes will be tucked away. Can I claim for this, or does it come under the 10% wear and tear? x

Mmmm

If you are using it for your shoes then you might be able to claim a percentage of it. Hopefully someone in the know will be along soon.

I think that if you're replacing it so it's under 10percent rule.

Just to confirm, shared furniture like this (whether new or replacement) is exactly what the 10% W&T allowance covers so you cannot claim anything. If it was solely for mindees you could claim it all.
