Card details on google play..

I've read a free sample of a book on google play from play store via my phone. To download full version it's asking for card details? Has anybody else used the 'app'? If so are there any hidden charges after entering details? Have you had any problems, security or otherwise? Thanks

I use google play but I have never bought anything.

I get free books from Amazon via the Kindle Users Forum daily emails... and the Kindle app is free for my phone.

Thanks for reply sarah707. The book is ment to be free but they are asking for card details to enable download :-\. Just a bit dubious.

They do this just to check you say who you are no money should be taken But you could email them just to check
