My car I bought last year is clearly too small for childminding although its 5 doors but I wanted to get a 7 seater car but can I put this an a expense as I wouldn't need to buy this for my family?

No. You can only claim a tiny proportion of the cost of the car as a capital allowance each year. Or claim 45p a mile for business mileage.
It's always best to plan on claiming the 45p. Once you have had the car for a year or so and have a better idea of how much it costs to run you can work out if you would be better claiming part of the actual costs. Either way you need to keep a record of each journey you take - date, where from and to, what for and mileage.
