Hello, hope someone can help me. what sort of folder do you need if you have a child with you who is learning english as a second language. not sure what i should be recording really :blush: so ANY help will be great, thanks in advance

I would start with an all about me form and on there it will state their home language and anything else relevant....
Are you able to communicate with parents easily? Learn some words in their language such as hello and welcome, bye bye etc. Have a chat with parents and make a note for your records.....include their language in your welcome poster, take more time for settling in if they don't speak english will all be very daunting,make detailed notes for yourself of everything you have done so you can put it on your sef and tell your inspector next time round!

You also need to ask parents about how the child uses their home language - are they good speakers? Do they struggle with any sounds etc?
