its awful and I hate to think how the parents are feeling.
tonight my son should have been home from school at 3.15pm but didnt arrive till 4.30pm, I was frantic but thankfully the school finaly found him in an after school club, he had forgot his phone so couldnt call me to let me know!
that time when I didnt know where he was or if he was ok was awful and that wasnt long at all for me.
I so hope they find her alive soon and my prayers are with her and her parents tonight

My little girl is the same age and I can't even begin to think what her family must be going through right now. I went out walking the dog around 7.20pm last night and it was getting dark. I'm not in a position to comment but why was she outside at that late time...

Sounds like there were several kids outside that evening. Far too late for such a little kid. Once they catch that kidnapper(s) then I hope the townspeople get to him/them first

My thoughts are with the family and hopefully she will be found safe and well.

But in my view she shouldn't have been out at that time of night, she should have been safely tucked up in bed. (Hope that didn't sound too harsh)

I think they should bring back the death penalty for people like that who go praying on little children (like Roy Whiting who murdered Sara Payne) and that man who murdered those two police officers in Manchester recently. There is no deterrant for people like this.

I know we should be able to let our children play out , but we can't, because of people who can't leave children alone!..............Thinking of you April and a speedy return to your family.......God Bless!!

:panic: it just does not bare thinking about. The parents right now are receiving so much criticism for allowing their child out so late, all I would say is they have been punished enough without making them feel worse about it.

It was New Years Eve and Cameron was just 3, Caiden was a month old. We we at MIL's house they were all in the bar in the garden, while I was in the kitchen sorting out Caiden, DH left to collect his Nan and granddad... next thing I heard was what sounded like Cameron coming from the front door, I ran out and there was no Cameron. I was frantically looking about for him. Everyone ended up on the streets, calling him, driving off... The whole thing only lasted 15/20 minutes, but it felt like hours. I was a jibbering wreck, when they found him he was at some persons house saying "Daddy drove off and left me!" he ran out after DH, DH didn't see him and then drove off, so Cameron just ran along the path, then turned corners when he came to a road.

Even thinking about about it now, it upsets me. That must be just a teeny, tiny fraction of what these poor parents are going through, my heart really does go out to them... The only person to blame here is the person who abducted her!

Poor little april I really hope we get good news soon.

Things are only not acceptable if you believe they aren't her parents and other parents in the area clearly felt it was.

Checked the news this morning and no news about April.

I agree the parents are going through hell and dont need to be criticised, they made a huge mistake and they are paying for it now.

I took my eye off my DD for 30 seconds when she was 3, we were in a Butlins venue for the evening and it was longest 20 minutes of my life. So can only imagine what this family is going through after so long.

Totally agree parents must be in a living nightmare, let's hope they find her alive but the fact they are looking by the river is not good news.

What a terrible thing to go through, I feel sick just thinking about it if it was one of mine.

Prayers are with them.

:panic: Apparently the guy they arrested was wearing a camouflage jacket and water proof trousers!

Does not bare thinking about the possible outcomes, all we can do is wish, pray and hope she is found alive and well!

I heard about this on Monday night just as I was going to bed. Having a DD the same age my blood ran cold. Everytime I see the lastest news about it it makes me very emotional. I don't let either of my 2 children play outside of the garden (yes I am a neurotic mum) but last night as I was watching the early evening news with DS, he turned to me and said "now I understand why you don't let us play out on our own". Sad isn't it
God I hope she is found safe.

I'm afraid I agree, I would have thought that if he had been arrested and she wa still alive he would have told them where she was :(

i really hope they can find her safe and very soon but its not looking good is it.

i have my own 5yr old and he is so immature and has no stranger awareness, i cant imagine how her parents are feeling but i dont let me son play out and he is asleep by 7pm every night.

i think that calling off the general public in the search is because the man they have arrested has told them she is not alive, they don't want the public finding her.....sorry I hope I am wrong but the whole situation sounds awful, feel so sorry for the family and the little girl x

Emma, I feel for you about your experience, it's truely heart stopping .
I don't know the true facts about Aprils disappearance, only the press stuff and I'm sure her parents are distraught but if she was out, even as stated with a bunch of other kids, the parents are ultimately responsible for her safety and are probably regretting their decision to let her out without adult supervision. I'm trying not to be harsh here, I feel sick to the pit of my belly, but if more parents are made to THINK about the possiblity of abduction the better. I think the criticism should be aired, Maddie McCann comes to mind too.

It's so sad, and if it is true why can't they get it out of him where she is? I really can't understand how these child killers think they claim some sort of 'oneupmanship' over the police by not revealing the whereabouts of their victims.

Poor poor little girl.

It seems they are using specialist sonar equipment on the boats in the river.
I think this is so sad.
