My old laptop is slowly dying & I need a new one. I mailnly use it for childminding & wonder if I could put part of the cost down as expenses?
Anyone know if this is possible?

Yes you can claim partly i.e. 1/3 if iam not wrong every year do it in 3-4 years you can claim it that way. you can add in your expenditure, only if mindees will be using it too.

I had to ask when my wii one of the remote was broken by one of the mindees:panic: which was definate to claim . but if it is big expensive product you have to put in small claim every year. I hope this is useful. X

Sorry Jaswinder, that is not right.

If your laptop is used 75% for your business, you can claim 75% of the cost (as Annual Investment Allowance, not as part of your expenses) in the year that you buy it. If this takes you below the tax threshold there is another way to spread the cost over a number of years (I won't go into this now) but you can still only claim the same amount in total.
