Well earlier tonight got so excited that I had finally caught up with everything after lots of very late nights reading, making sure it was all finished. After even more reading :panic:, I have a few questions needing some help with:

1) Has anyone done a policy on variatons/changes to conditions? Are we meant to?
2) Can the information to share with parents ie contact numbers be in a parents information folder as rickysmiths has suggested a while ago
3) What is up with the sight and hearing thing? That we have to keep an eye on kids all the time? The nearest I have to this is in my safety, that all children will stay near me etc...
4) Do we have to put numbers for the safeguarding board/LAD office/Social care into the policies or can we direct to parent's folder again?

Oh and additionally, what are the must have policies and procedures? that we have to give to parents?

A written policy is not required - if you are in the position where you want to organise a variation you would need to be able to explain and justify it to Ofsted and parents so you might choose to write something then.

Yes absolutely as long as they have all read it.

The new Ofsted inspection guidance says that they will be trying to speak to parents during your inspection.

Scenario - you collect child A from nursery. You have child B with you in the buggy asleep.

To collect child A you have to walk through the nursery building and child B will be out of your sight and hearing for a short time.

You know it will be illegal to walk through but you don't want to wake him up.

how do you plan for this happening?

Safeguarding / child protection policy and procedures!

not sure what you mean? Do you mean your information ie numbers, email address? if so yes

The nearest I have to this is in my safety, that all children will stay near me etc... all children should be in sight and or sound at all times depending on age and what they and you are doing. I have this in my Health and Safety Policy and it is in RAs

I do, also the Police Safeguarding No., Ofsted, NSPCC, Child Line, NCMA. They are in my Child protection Policy. they are the numbers I may need in a hurry and I know where to find them and the parents have an idea who I may contact and speak to if needed. They go in my Parents Info Folder in that there is a copy of all my policies in it and I give a copy of ALL my Policies to my parents.

Oh and additionally, what are the must have policies and procedures? that we have to give to parents? There are no Policies we have to give the parents, they just have to have access to them. However I always give a copy of all of mine to the parents because I ask them to sign to say the have read and agree to them.
