Hi, when we implement the revised eyfs into the paperwork from sept, firstly do we implement all 7 areas or just the 3 prime areas into the development of children who are younger than 3? what happens if a child does something that relates to the other areas? Is there a progress report template anywhere for the reports of 2-3 year olds?

thanks

Our LA has made us some Next Steps templates- for under 3's they only put boxes for the 3 prime areas but underneath there is a smaller box for 'wider context/interests' where you could put notes on the specific areas if you want. But the emphasis is absolutely on the 3 prime areas for under 3's. It is up to you, though, if you want to cover them all to some extent you can; but you need to be clear on the emphasis on the Prime and how the Specific only grow out of a secure position in the 3 Prime.

You will always read books, sing songs, dance, explore playdough, go on outings etc etc with all children regardless of their age!

These activities are linked to the specific areas - and you will still be writing about them.

yes, the focus is on the prime areas until they are established, but the specific ones must not be ignored.
