We have one that is basically a grill, oven and hob. We can make everything on it from bbq, to cakes, to paella, to soup. We have another that just cooks over a flame which we use for meat and fish.

However, I don't like the taste or smell of bbq'd meat so when we have friends round we usually have a mexican spread anyway.

We are having a BBQ tonight. We are having sausages, marinated chicken and steak cooked over charcoal. All served with salad, new potatoes, potato salad & coleslaw. Yummy i'm already hungry.

love a bit of salmon - wrapped in buttered foil, can add lemon wedge/herbs if you like. Put it on a not too raging hot bit of BBQ to cook

lamb kebabs - local butchers lamb is soooo nice. I like them plain

and usual sausages/burgers/chicken pieces, with salad and new potatoes

guess I will be shopping for BBQ stuff tomorrow :D that's dinner sorted

We have a Gas BBQ, although we do prefer charcoal ones.

I am really funny about BBQ's only let DH do burgers, sausages and steak... I usually do the chicken in the oven and finish off on the BBQ.

We had our first one BBQ last... t'was deeeeee-lish!!!!!!

We do the usual sausages, burgers, chops, ribs, kebabs etc

The chicken we normally cook in the oven and then finish off on the barbe. We also do garlic mushrooms, onions and prawns all wrapped in foil.

Ours is gas so we also have a pan ring that we can use.

I've known people to cook their turkey on the barbe at Xmas

A whole chicken...

I kid you not

;)

I have a weber kettle bbq which gets very hot...

in fact it can cook a chicken quicker than my oven can...

to make sure it doesnt dry out I rinse out a coke can, fill with water, lemon and herbs...

place chicken on bbq, wedge coke can inside chicken

the water in the can gets hot and steams the chicken inside out... bbq cooks outside in

voila!

cooked chicken

Fire BBQs (called a 'braai' in South Africa) is the only way it can be done by us :D

Boerewors (South African sausage called 'farmer's sausage')
Yellowtail fish (our fav, can use other fish) in foil
chicken (various sizes) - marinated/not
steak - marinated/not
lamb chops
spare ribs - marinated
kebabs/sosaties on a stick - vege ones or with meat pieces and veg mix.

jacket potatoes in foil
onions in foil
corn on the cob in foil
peppers cut in strips in foil
large mushrooms in foil
cheese/onion/bread toasties

Pretty much anything goes on haha

Sides:
coleslaw
3 bean salad
grated carrot salad with raisins/sultanas
potato/egg/onion salad
grilled garlic bread
pasta/pesto type salad

We also love our potjies on braais/bbqs!

I hate bbqs!!!! I hate the taste and the smell and not eating pork or beef can make me a bit of a pain. I do like all the salads though!!!!
