I had to apply some ezcema cream to a baby's tummy today, I know with all the usual medication I have permission slips and i always seek verbal permission beforehand too but this ezcema cream wasn't on the slip ....silly question maybe but should i get a medication slip completed? those ones in the accident and incident folders? I don't foresee any other times the mum just forgot to do it this morning.

thanks

Yes, just to be on the safe side to be honest. Hope that helps.

You should have a sheet for ongoing non-prescribed medication which covers things like calpol, emollient cream (Diprobase usually), teething gel those sorts of medications - then when you have applied the cream you write it up and ask parents to sign.

With Calpol and anything else that is time sensitive you make sure either 4 hours have passed (in emergency) or parents need to be asked if child has had it already that day.

If it's a steroid cream parents need to sign before you apply it because it is a prescribed medication.
