Does anyone know if I can claim the percentage of rent as expence when I receive housing benefit?

I would think you could only claim it if you put the housing benefit in as an income. If you are in receipt of this, they you are not physically paying the rent. However Mr Anchovey is your man to ask x

Yes you can. Housing Benefit is not a taxable benefit and must not go on your tax return.

But note that using your home for business purposes may affect your Housing Benefit. However HB is paid by your Local Authority and there is not usually a problem for childminders because Local Authorities are also responsible for availability of child care!
