Hi, one of my lo's will be leaving for school...do we have to have it in writing or can we put it into the contract....date contract ended

If it was me I would just do a quick letter of termination just detailing the date that the contract ends and get both of you to sign.

me too. just along the lines of:
as discussed, x will be starting school on xxx 2012 and therefore her last day in my care will be xxx.
then give normal notice about new monthly payment (if they are going before/after school) or notifying tax credits (if applicable) to say they no longer need childcare/their costs have changed.
