I used to do monthly/bi-monthly planning and assessment but childcare advisor says this isn't necessary and suggested I do termly instead.

Would this be 3 terms per year (4 months per term)?

ie Jan-April, June-August and Sept-Dec?

It's all well and good someone saying it's not necessary ... but they aren't the ones doing it!

If it fits in with your way of working and you don't find it too much and parents are happy with that way of sharing information then there's no reason why you shouldn't carry on as you are...

However if it's getting too much for you then don't just think about when you produce the paperwork but also how much you are writing, how parents are interacting with it, how you can show evidence of a child's progression if you are leaving longer between summaries etc.

Hth :D

Your childcare advisor is just that - an advisor - you don't have to implement everything he/she suggests.

If you're happy the way things are then stick with it - if it ain't broke don't fix it! :D
