What sort of books do you like?

I love crime/pathology thrillers and can recommend Peter James, Mark Billingham and, if you have a strong stomach - Val McDermid and Karin Slaughter.

Some other favourites:

Before I Go To Sleep is a fab book about a woman who loses her memory at the end of each day.

The Room is amazing - written from the perspective of a child born and raised in a room with his captive mother - made me cry!

The Time Traveller's Wife - beautiful, much better than the film, made me cry!

One Day - a really sweet book about a friendship/relationship between a man and a woman visited on the same day every year - made me cry!

Its either blood and guts or a good weepie for me :D

I can't remember the last time I read a book (probably on maternity leave with my 1st DD!) BUT, I do like crime. I read all of Martina Cole's books, I like James Patterson and Stephen King too.
The extent of my bookcase at the moment thought consists of 'No cry sleep solutions for toddlers' and 'how to raise your spirited child' but said child won't sleep so I don't have time to read them!! ;)

I've recently finished the Harry Potter series.

Initially thought it wasn't my cup of tea, and then was bored one afternoon and picked up the first one (my children have picked up the books on their travels) as I knew I could read it in a couple of hours, and then I was hooked.

I love reading but don't often because I become a most neglectful mother and wife :blush:

We have just read The Host by Stephanie Meyer in our book group - same author that wrote Twilight. I really didn't fancy reading twilight and so was a bit dubious about the host - but it was one of the best books I have read for ages and I would really recommend it. Have now given in and downloaded Twilight to read!

If you like lord of the rings type stuff you may like George Martin's - game of thrones - am reading at mo and is quite good - fairly cheap on the kindle too.

Linwood Barclay's are reallly good. ive just started his latest.

ooo, i like his books too.

LOL at kindle talk though ... i use the kindle app on my phone and after reading on here yesterday i had a look at amazon and loaded a pile of new books on my phone ...

DH then asked if i wanted one for my birthday as then i could take it on holiday and not need to take my phone !!! i said i prefer 'real books' and he said yes, but i wouldn't have enough luggage space for the amount i read on holiday ;) and if i only used it on holiday or when i had run out of books from the library that was fine :D .

i was interested to read that you can sync a kindle & phone app. that would be useful as i use my phone app for when i am waiting for clubs etc. also didn't know you could download from library either :D
