Has anyone ever had to have geneology test because of a strong history of Cancer? My Great Aunt, Mum and Sister have all had/have breast cancer. Mum was 42 and sister is 48. Me, my other sister, my niece and great neice all have to go and get tested for a fault in the gene BRCA1, BRCA2 and TP53... Does anyone know how they do this? Or been to have something similar... what do they do? Feel really nervous now.

Dont know hon but I know my dd's will have to be tested for a mutant gene when they are older as I have one that causes blot clots (dont know the name). They found mine through a blood test :) so hopefully thats how they would test my dd's

I have prior to getting pregnant as my partner has a condition that they had to check if I carried the faulty gene too as it would have meant that they would have had to do egg selection for me. Anyway it was just a simple blood test which was then grown under specific conditions for 3 weeks before I could be told.
