Newly Registered and Cant get my head round planning

Hi,

I'm a newly registered childminder who worked in a law firm in the city. As you can imagine I have no childcare background apart from my own two children (7 and 2).

I currently mind a 1 year old, 5 year old and 6 year old.

Where do I start with planning and learning journals for 1 yo and 5 yo? Does anyone have any useful websites I can look at?

You start with the initial information you ask for from parents - you will need a good quality 'all about me' / child information form which finds out what children do and know from home.

Then you watch and listen and note children's 'starting points' - the things they can already do.

Use the Development Matters document in the Eyfs to note what they might enjoy doing next - that's your planning!
