Default Ideas for a sensory board please

Hi I am nearly ready to make a sensory board.

I have got a large painted board on the wall and am going to hot glue some velcro onto the board ( 12 pieces) then use the other side of the velcro to hot glue onto 12 smaller boards, so that I the children can pull off the boards and examine each one and swap them around.

I plan to start with a feel/touch board then go onto a noise/sound board.

Has anyone got any idea on what I can use for sensory touch, I have come up with.
    Cotton wool,
    Silk
    Leather
    Bubble wrap
sand paper ( not sure this will be ok LOL)
    feathers
organza (not sure its spelt like this!)
Shells ( making sure they are really stuck down)
    Felt
    Wool/jumper
    Fur
and maybe rice stuck all over the small board!

Have you got any other ideas on what I could use please.

Also if you can help, when I get around to swapping it to a noise board, I plan to paint the inside of say take away tubs, so the items cant be seen and add things that make a noise. ie

    Bells
    Rice
    pebbles
    pennies
etc. need help with this one LOL

    many thanks

    Jackie

Not sure I like the idea of having a permanent board of that nature up on my wall. I can see it getting tatty and what if a small item falls off or is pulled off and then becomes a chocking hazard?

I do sensory things by having things in baskets that come out under supervision. or in a bowl or tray with things like rice, cereal, pasta etc.

I have am an old grouch!! I work in my home not a nursery and have nothing of this sort on my walls

Awww thank you so much for that link, I am sure to get some more ideas from there. I am lucky enough to have a large play room in mt home that is set up just for my children and mindees. The idea of it being on Velcro is that if it gets tacky then I will just replace that board and hopefully but me gluing it with a hot gun things should more secure, fingers crossed lol

crisp packets inside a square of fabric make a great crinkly noise. When I was at college we had to make a toy. I made a clown sensory play mat. i bought a few cheep baby toys from charity shops to use the squeakers, bells, mirrors etc and recycled them!We had to give the toy as a present to a family we did our placement with I wish I could have kept it!!!

Thank you, but going to sound very thick, but what does Sauternes mean LOL.

Going to change it soon to a noise board, just racking my brain on best way to do it
