Smile Fees paid whilst at Nursery

Hi, I am looking for advice.

I have been childminding since last April but only part time. I have now decided, after my first Ofsted inspection, to go full time and have had an enquiry for a lady who wishes her child to be with me from 8.15 to 4.00 Mon - Thursday. The girl also goes nursery on these days in the afternoons, so I will take her and drop her off. When the girl is at nursery as, I am the emergency contact, can I be expected to be paid for these hours? I would appreciate any advise on this please. Thanks x

Hi, I have a lo who is at nursery in the afternoons too. I charge them half rate whilst he is at nursery as I am emergency contact and to keep the space open as I have him in holidays too. I know some people charge full rate for this as well but I think you are entitled to charge as you could not fill a space for just the hours they r at nursery. Hope that helps.

I have always charged full rate while they are at pre-school nursery if I collect as well. If I didn't as in the case above I would only charge until I got home from dropping off.

I won't be an emergency contact for pre-school/nursery or school if they deem it necessary, due to illness, that a lo must leave then I won't have a sick child in my setting. The parents have to collect or their nominated person. If they have to close for some reason and the lo is fit then I will have them.

I would charge in full especially if I was also collecting from the nursery. This is because I couldn't fill his place for those few hours.

I also now charge whilst they are at pre school if I am needed to drop off and pick up as it is taking up a space.
The cost shouldnt really effect the parent as they get the pre school session free and some get tax credits aswell

I always charge full days whether I pick up/drop off or not after all they are paying to keep the space not for child care or education

I have had parents ask why I charge, but never lost anyone because I charge
