    Default Conkers!

We went off to the park yesterday and collected 5 nappy sacks worth of conkers (thanks goodness I took nappy sacks!!!!)

So what on earth do I do with them all now?!?! The kids have been making roads with them all morning which is quite nice but any ideas would be gratefully received!

    necklaces,

people and animals using skwers to attach the them all to each other
use bigger ones for the body, smaller ones for the head etc. Flat ones for the feet.....

glue the conkers onto an empty tin all the way round to make a nice looking flower pot.

conker painting in an unused cat litter tray...roll them with pain on them over pieces of paper

stamping with conkers dipped in paint....

conkers counting aids. make holes through the conkers and thread them onto a pipe cleaner or string. make 10. one with 1 conker, one with 2, one with 3...and so on.

holes can be made into conkers with a small hand drill (non motoriesed) if the conkers are soft enough with a wooden skewer and some strength!, or with the end of a bottle opener for making the animals. the holes then won't be very deep but enough to stick the animals together...maybe aid it with some glue.

if you have some conkers shells (the spikey green ones) you can use them to make hedgehogs. make a hedghog body shape including the snout and face from salt dough or clay and attach the conker shell as the spikes on the back.

that's all I can think of at the mo!

I had lots last year and put them in my tuff spot with pine cones.
How about using them to do painting.... dipping in paint and rolling around a tray. I think I've seen this done with marbles.... it hopefully would work. x

how about putting some string on them and playing 'proper' conkers! lol

make sure you provide goggles and risk assess the activity first tho, oh and of course get signed parental permission just in case the little darlings get hurt .
