Coronation Weekend!

So, do you have plans? Will you be watching it all on tv?

Is anyone actually going to the streets of London to see what they can see?

We'll be watching on TV, but our neighbours have got a hotel booked in London and will be lining the streets on the big day.

This morning, I popped into the shop Joules. They had some paper crowns that you could help yourself to (well, I helped myself, so I hope they were free, haha). On one side they are already decorated, but if you turn them inside out they are plain white - so it saves me having to cut some out of card myself. I was so happy in town after my discovery - it's the small things, lol! I got some red white and blue craft bits from the works, so they can decorate their crowns with those.

Maza... that was lucky. I was planning on making some crowns with the children but left it a little late to order some card (didn't realise we didn't have any card left apart from green) I have been out looking this morning for card and can't source any even the local Tesco was out of stock!

I have some red/white/blue chickpeas which we will have out this week. Our local Yarnbombers have been out in force this weekend decorated the village so we will go out for a local walk to see all the decorations they have put up...postbox topper/tree decorations etc.

Personally I have an appointment Saturday morning which when I booked I had totally forgotten it was the coronation so will have to catch up with it when I get back. I am looking forward to the concert on Sunday night.

Ooooh, the yarnbombers sounds fun. We have got a couple of postboxes decorated, but nothing else.

I have a pile of crowns that I bought for a Christmas Party, so we're decorating those.
I've got red/ white/ blue chickpeas and other assorted pipe cleaners/pompoms/sequins/buttons etc that the children are sitting and playing with in an Array tray thing!
Orchard Toys have some super Coronation themed free printables if you look on their website. (They have loads of amazing stuff to print off! ..I could spend hours on it!)

We're having a Coronation party at toddlers and then I'm at a band concert on the Friday night. Think I'll probably be portering around on the sat, but with TV on and then Sunday we have a church service and a local club are hosting a fun day.

Going to need Monday to recover!

We were supposed to be having a little garden/street party with three of our neighbouring houses on our close. We have had brilliant ones in the past, for the Jubilee and VE day. A couple of our neighbours have elderly parents who are very sick at the moment and so might get called away. I hinted today that we could cancel if people aren't really in the right frame of mind so that they don't feel any pressure. I'm kind of hoping that someone else says that we should cancel, as I don't think any of us are particularly feeling it.

I had some crowns left over from jubilee crafts, so we used those for the children to decorate.

My children are all a bit young to show much interest, but they enjoyed making and decorating cupcakes, painting with red, white & blue paint and making flags.

I'll watch some of it on the TV. I'm not overly interested, but it's a moment in history that I feel I should see. I do feel sorry for the people already lining the streets in London - the weather looks to have been pretty awful.

DH and I found ourselves watching the whole thing from about 10.30 am to gone 2pm!
It was fascinating to watch as a spectacle and part of history. I'm glad to have seen it.

I watched quite a bit of it too, it was an amazing piece of history that we may not witness again as opinion seems to be that when it is Prince William's turn he will scale things back more.

I am looking forward to watching the concert tonight.

I enjoyed it too. I thought Charles looked a bit tired, or maybe nervous? He looked a bit more relaxed afterwards when he was listening to the three cheers - how amazing was that part?!

I enjoyed most of the concert too.

We went ahead and had our little party for the neighbours and it was really lovely actually. It forced us to do a big clean of the house and garden, and then today we could have left over buffet food for lunch and snacks - I love that!
