    Default Fathers Day ideas

What do you do with your LO's for Fathers Day? I've never had to make Fathers Day things before so am totally clueless!

My mindees are just turned 2 and 21 months

Oh just realised I don't have to do this this year all my los are off this week

In the past I have got key rings from Hobby Craft or similar and put a photo one side and a drawing done by lo in the other side. We have made biscuits, cup cakes.

i made chocolate plaques last time ... lined old marge tubs etc with cling film, melted choc, poured it in and LO added sweets! schoolies added other choc/patterns etc.

    easy to do!

this year i've bought some cheap canvas's from the works and will get each LO to paint on it. i was thinking about doing a hand print tree, or just a handprint and making it into a smiley face.

    I make cards,
coasters:either printed pictures to colour in or child's own design on paper/card and then laminated, painted a tile and sealed with varnish, bought round wooden ones from bakerross, painted and sealed
Made boxes and put cake/choc/sweets inside.

    The bear card is multifunctional!
I use it at Christmas...with a santa hat and a present
    Valentines...flowers/hearts
    Mother's day...flowers and a present
    Father's day...beer glass/tie/present

    The children love the bear!!

The DAD one is a pop up card...again i use the same idea but different things inside
    Hearts...MUM...Easter eggs...
Again the children love them. They get to decorate the outsides of the cards and then the pop up bit inside...used them with older children too at the youth club

The boxes are easy to make too and again, are multifunctional!!

We've made chocolate fudge in the past which was good and easy to do.The recipe is on here somewhere.

Decorated the letters D A D then put small photos of lo in the cut out bits of each letter and stuck to A4 sheet and laminated - always look nice.

Made medals or rosettes - No.1 DAD.

Cut out a car shape for the card and put a small photo of lo inside to look like they are driving.

    Miffy xx
    Keep smiling!

    Hey everyone!

I'm loving all of these ideas! This will be my first fathers day as a childminder, used to work in schools, so have some ideas however...
I have 1 mindee (17 mths) who is not allowed contact with the father but see's both the grandfathers regularly. All my others will be busy next week making cards etc but I dont know what to do about this lo? do I let him join in but write to grandfather? or just let him do the pictures and mark making and other activites but send nothing home? Any advice pleassseee?? I know it is friday but I would love some ideas as they are currently sleeping so I'm planning!
    Thank you in advance!

I went to the 99p shop today and they are doing a blank canvas quite a good size so i bought one and im going to do lots of painted handprints on it from my 18m mindee. Mindee 11m is a bit tricky as his dad walked out on them last week so i think doing a fathers day gift from him will be a bit upsetting for his mum but as he is so little i think i can get away with it xx
I love my friends who live inside my laptop xx

In the past I have bought white handkerchiefs and the children have decorated them using fabric pens. I have also bought cheap white mugs and again the children have decorated using ceramic pens. This year i am making coasters.

I quite like the idea from Creative Step mag this month.

'Dad Rocks' .... which is a clay-type rock with little stones inserted. Older children can use little stone to write the words, whilst with LOs I can write the words and they can insert little stones in randomly.

If anyone needs a quick, cheapish idea for Father's day I have just been to Morrison's petrol station and they are selling a pack of 4 glass coasters for £2.99 which you can put a photo in! The photo size is perfect for a pogo picture, and I thought the lo's could use glass pens to write/draw on the front of them!

    My mindee's are 1, 2 amd 3yrs.
We are going to make footprint bookmarks.

Each mindee with paint their foot and print it onto card. When dry I will cut it out, laminate it and then add a ribbon.

For the cards, I may pinch the idea of sticking a map of where Dad comes from onto the front.

Also seen a nice idea for a Paper weight.
Cover a large stone in brightly coloured tissue paper pieces and cover in glue. When dry, use a marker pen and write "My Dad Rocks!" on it.

We are going to start ours this afternoon.

I saw something that someone had done (can't remember where now though). They'd cut out a capital 'I' out of paper and a paper heart shape. They got the child to hold each one and took a separate photo, and on the last photo, they had the child point to the camera....so it was in effect the child saying "I love you". Brilliant I thought, I'm going to be doing that too

    Hels xx
