New Member and confusion with CYPOP 5 Legislations!

Hi there,

I am a new member here and have already gained a great deal of info just reading threads here for the last hour!
I am just starting the journey on becoming a child minder and am doing the Cache Level 3 Cypop5 Home Based Child Minding course. Initially when i looked at the assignments I panicked and found it all a bit over whelming, but since getting Sheila Riddall-Leech's book, I have found it helps loads.

So i am on the first task of Legislation and Regulatory Bodies. I have got a whole list of regulations from both the book above, and what i found on Wikipedia........are all of these necessary? I have read that the The Equality Act 2010 brought together 9 other acts - so does that mean it has replaced some of what I have listed below?? Or should i still use them all?

Also, the list of legislation in Sheila's book is slightly different to what is listed for childminders legislation on Wikipedia.......

This is all the ones i was going to use from Sheila Riddall-Leech's book:

Sex Discrimination Act 1975
Race Relations Act 1976 (amended in 2000)
Education Act 1981
Public Health (Control of Disease) Act (1984)
Children Act (1989)
Codes of Practice for the identification and Assessment of Children with Special Educational Needs (1994,revised in 2001)
RIDDOR (1995)
Food Safety Regulations (1995)
Education Act (1997)
Human Rights Act (1998)
Data Protection Act (1998)
Special Educational Needs & Disability Act (2001)
COSHH Regulations (2002)
Children Act (2004)
Childcare Act (2006)


These were some extra's that were on wikipedia!! :

Care Standards Act (2000)
Daycare and Childminding Regulations (2005)
Equality Act (2010)

Should i include them all, or are some outdated now?? Its quite a list and i have to write about each one, so i don't really want to do any unnecessary work!

The Equality Act 2010 replaces 9 other Acts and Statutory documents. The main ones are...

• Equal Pay Act 1970;

• Sex Discrimination Act 1975;

• Race Relations Act 1976 (amended 2000);

• Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (amended 2005);

• Equality Act 2006 and other statutory instruments protecting discrimination in employment on grounds of religion or belief, sexual orientation and age.
