Default How do I clean DD's ears? (sorry!)

    Hi all,
DD, 3, has a streaming cold and conjunctivitis at the moment (mindee away on holiday). I have just noticed that her ears are full of wax too. I know we're not supposed to use cotton buds to clean ears, just wondered what you all do. She's very prone to ear infections so I do want to keep them clean. Sorry if you're just having lunch!

I use earbuds on my children. As long as you dont insert them right into the ear and just around the bits you can see I think they're fine.

Thanks Guys. I suppose it is fine to use cotton buds as long as you only clean the visible bits. Just bought some new ones as we used our last lot for painting!

Never put anything smaller than your elbow down your child's ear canal!

Clean the outside by all means but if you try and clean the canal you can end up making things worse by pushing the wax further down.

The best way to clear wax is to use warm olive oil for a couple of weeks, twice a day. If it's still there go to the nurse for a wash out - but not until you have used the oil for a few weeks.

    Yeah - use the oils.
My boyfriend didn't bother and just went to get them syringed.
