    Default What age?

What age do you stop buying Xmas pressies for family members. We have nieces who we rarely see who now don't live at home (19 with own child and 22), do you think they're too old for pressies now? We don't buy for our brothers/sisters anymore and i think we should stop buying for the older nieces/nephews.
    love Sarah.

I stopped at 16, then they just have 18th/21st presents to come.

DH is the youngest of 7 - that's 11 nephews and nieces between his siblings and there are 3 on my side too. Added to our own 2 kids it was madness!

At 16 some of them had part time jobs and could be buying us presents

I buy for my brother and 2 sisters and 2 of DH sisters who I actually see and like but only small presents

This is the problem we have, dp has 10 nieces/nephews all over the age of 12 and 2 under 6 as well as my 4 under 11. Not to mention our close friends children.

we used to spend £10 each but by cutting it down to £7ish it helped then they started getting older so dropped off the list. So much easier now. I would arrange with the families to only give token present of say £5. It shouldn't be all about the money spent anyway

My brother and I decided years ago that we wouldn't buy for each other/children as I had 4 children and so did they and money was tight easypeasy!!

My DH on the other hand has 2 nieces who are quite a bit older than my 4 boys so even though I had planned to stop buying for them when they got to 21 it seemed mean when my sil was buying for my sons who were still quite young!!!

Then nieces had children of their own so I started buying for the great nephew/nieces instead. Trouble now is my sons are 18/20 and my SIL was going to stop buying at 18, but I still buy for my great n/n who are only 9, 7, 6 and 5 so I think she feels as though she can't not buy for my sons - I can see this carrying on for years !

We dont buy for siblings that have kids, but will buy for their children until they turn 16. We have agreed as a family that no more that £10 can be spent on a present. The only exception to that is the grandparents, but next christmas they will have an extra 3 grandchildren so I doubt that they will be spending as much!

Christmas just gets too expensive otherwise!

a few years ago, i realised that ALOT of the families i bought for, the children were all getting older (over 11)!

i now buy each family a gift from oxfam unwrapped.

not sure what we will do when it comes to neices & nephews, as currently all under 10! but we still buy for each of DH & my siblings & partners. we've tried suggesting that we don't, and have managed to put a limit of amount spent, but MIL got really upset and kept saying to me ''wouldn't you be really upset if X ( my brother ) didn't buy you a present?'' NO!

I think when you get to the point of wondering what to buy children they are usually nearly old enough to stop buying for! When they get to senior school age they grow up so quick and everything they would like costs a fortune

Last prezzie on 18th birthday (6 down 4 to go) problem is there are three darling little great nephews and neices now. There will come a point where we just have to stop . We all spend between £10 to £15.

I'm 26 and I still get presents from my aunties, uncles, grandparents etc. We're a family of 13 but everyone still gets presents from everyone else, I'd be gutted if we didn't!
