Default Just wanted to tell someone!

Hooray! So pleased with myself this morning but secretly!

I go to a choir and we're performing a Christmas concert in 4 weeks time. Last night at rehearsal the choirmaster asked if anyone wanted to try out for a solo - well I bit back my nerves and decided to go for it! So proud of myself and even happier that I got it!!

Not so much pleased with the fact I got it but just the fact that I didn't let fear stand in my way and I put myself out there and tried!

Both my mum and sister suffer badly with depression and their nerves - too frightened to do things new and by themselves - missing out on stuff just because they're too frightened. They think I don't suffer with the same problem - but I do - I fight it every day - but I just try extremely hard to not let a condition stop me from doing the things i want to in life.

So just feeling a bit inspirational this morning - go for your dreams no matter how scared you are!

(love this forum - I'm not telling anyone else as my family have a tendency to shrug and say well that's just you - you don't have the same problems. I do but i just don't want to tell them as it makes them feel bad for not being able to shrug off their fears)

Well done for finding the courage to go for it & for getting the solo!

I would love to be able to sing, but I'm awful. That's one good thing about working with children - they really don't mind that you hit very few right notes

I completely understand the nerves thing. People who know me think I am an incredible confident person. If only they knew the truth

Well done on getting your solo - and even more well done on managing to 'go for it'.

I know just ewhere you are coming from - I am naturally a shy person and lack confidence but manage to do all sorts of things that family can't really believe I do.

So well done you - it takes a lot to push yourself out of your comfort zone

That is fantastic to hear, well done and good for you. My own daughter was bullied in school and developed severe anxiety, she has just moved on to secondary school this year and she has fought really hard for 18 months to get back to 'herself'. I'm really proud of her and I'm proud of you too, well done for recognisisng and sharing this achievement. Go for it and enjoy
