Hi does anyone know of any good campsites in the lake district?
We are not having a holiday this year as such- just lots of camping getaways.
We need somewhere suitable for a 5 and 8 year old. Any suggestions please?

Are you in a tent or caravan?
We used to go to Fisherground farm at Eskdale when we had a tent. - they dont allow caravans. There is a great play area for the children, very family friendly.
Pub, very near by and village shop walkable, rest by car.
Train at end of campsite - little stem train thing!

Have you an area in preference?
We have also been to Coniston hall campsite. This has easy access into the centre, with lots of shops, pubs, walking ect, but far enough away so you cant hear the noise. Its nice and spread out too. Family friendly too, no play equipment, but lots of space.
Will let you know if we think of anymore!

Thanks Rachel.
Yes we are in a tent. We have been to fisherground and we enjoyed it there. Just thought we would try somewhere different.
This might help. Reviews of good and bad.

Come back David....
We have stayed lots of times at the camping and caravaning club site at Keswick. It is right on the edge of Derwentwater (so much so that lake floods site in winter) You can walk into Kewick there are enough shops and things , walk to the theatre on the lake and to where you can hire boats and catch the round the lake boats or if energetic walk from the camp site and right round the lake (we usually take a picnic and take the day to do walk), there is loads to do but of course best bit is all the outdoors / water activities available.
Enjoy your visit where ever you stay
Penny
Keswick is fab for kids pets and people
but pick the right time and on a hill bit as it is prone to flooding, at certain times of the year
the views are breath taking
oh and make sure you plan your route some of the roads round her are very dodgy and scarey especially if you had a caravan
One life live it
