SO WHAT WENT WRONG?

how did everyones christmas day and dinner go?

my families day went well, no major catastrophies really.

the dinner was lovely apart from the fact that we packed to many roast potatoes in the tin and they took ages to roast and we ended up having to split them into 2 tins, because of this the beef overcooked and wasn't pink like my family likes it, it pleased me tho as i prefer it cooked

what minor or major things went wrong on your day?

Nothing
Neighbours came round in the morning for drinks, but after I drank a few too many Bucks Fizz, DH had to do the rest of the day, He did everything , from stuffing the turkey to clearing up. Think I will invite neighbours round again next year

Christmas dinner was fab - ate on christmas eve

DH forgot that he was getting 5 rabbits for an ex mindees dad to deliver before the day - I got a text on christmas eve after dinner - he had to phone a friend and pick them up and deliver. Good job he had not been drinking - bit of a panic, he will remember to write it down next year!

Nothing just a lovely family day

We had a lovely turkey dinner with all the trimmings and I even got my DH to eat some sprouts! The kids moaned about there being too much to eat

We had a box of wine between 3 adults and did not even finish it...reminds me, better get myself a glass

We had a lovely day. I was a little worried as my daughter asked if her future in laws could come but we all had a really good chat and a laugh togeher. LLoking good for the wedding in April nowX

we had a fab day but ive got the flu and really tried to battle on and do christmas dinner but sat down and lost track of time so chicken(dh doesnt like anything else) was a little crispy and burnt around the edges but still tasted good

My Grandad died of a massive heart attack at 5.30am on christmas morning.

But we pulled ourselves together and 4 generations of the family (aged 3 to 83) had a lovely christmas lunch at my sisters, the kids made us get on with things.
My nanna had the best day she could considering and we all went home full and relatively happy.

we had a lovely day but my brother was late, so we were already sitting down and half way through the starter when he arrived

everyone said not to let it spoil my day ( and i didn't ), but i was very cross!

had an even better boxing day - just me, DH, DS, DD and my mum, still in our pjs even now ( well, DD in bed, DS watching top gear! ) and we've done nothing! ; watched tv, sang along to wii sing disney, DD has tried out ALL her presents and done lots of crafts, done about half of DSs 1000 piece 'where's wally' puzzle and eaten lots of chocolates and food!

best boxing day for years!

we went to my parents....

my mum had invited one of her patients who wouldve been on her own

aw i hear you say....well yes it would be aw if my mum didnt get legless and then end up unable to look after her patient...leaving me to wipe her up, put her eye drops in etc.

also mum was so piddled she burnt the pudding....she put it in the micro for 15 mins straight...instead of 5 mins in...5 mins rest etc. so no pudding

I had to take patient home and sort her out...undress put to bed etc.

then i drove me, phil and my kids home.

i then went to bed when i got home.

Oh Amanda I am so sorry Kids are a great thing at time like that arent they. I lost my Dad recently and my girls have really kept me going. Much love to you and your family xx

I too recently lost my nana, it wasnt the same but you have to get on with things for the sake of the kids, we went to the crem too and laid flowers.

We lost my FIL on the Tuesday before Christmas but we soldiered on.

DH was rather subdued and SIL burst into tears a few times, but otherwise day went as well as can be expected.

I cooked turkey and a whole salmon, first time for both, turkey was perfect, but salmon wasn't done enough. Fortunately just me and mum ate that, so I put it in the oven again after dinner and it was lovely for lunch today.

Thats not very good. Won't she get in trouble with her employers? When I was a home carer we were NOT supposed to get emotionaly attached to customers and to NEVER bring them home There were so many of them that I wanted to help out

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Amanda.

My little "disasters" seem insignficant compared to that but here goes:-

1. I fell over on ice on Christmas Eve and had my wrist strapped up and was in quite a bit of pain all Christmas Day.

2. I put the fan on the oven instead of turning the actual oven on - realised when I went to put the turkey in so had to put it in about 15 minutes later than planned which meant I went round to my brother's later than intended!

3. I had forgotten to check how much oil I had - turned out not much so the roast potatoes weren't as crispy as I would have liked.

4. I put the second oven on - then popped the parsnips and pigs in blankets in. 10 minutes later I realised I had put the grill on instead of the oven, so I had to have a quick move around of things!

5. Finally (I think!) I realised that about 11.30pm that I didn't do any yorkshire puddings! No-one mentioned it - I'm surprised that the kids didn't realise as they love them!

Apart from these little "hiccups" we had a lovely day!
