Default As i'm bored i just thought i'd ask

    Do you bite your nails?

I have all my life , tried everything to stop over the years.

Then last week, looked at them and they are long , i've been that busy recently i forgot to bite them. Now i am dying to bite them all off

( geezz I am bored! What an awful post )

I did until I was 16. I always envied my Mum who had lovely long nails but I just couldn't stop. Then one day, for no apparent reason I just stopped. Now I have long nails and I LOVE painting them pretty colours - in fact I have more than a little bit of a nail polish addiction!!

Quickly file and paint them, Bear. It'll help stop the urge. I don't bite my nails but when I'm stressed, I bite the skin around my nails and they look awful. In fact, writing that, it sounds evem MORE disgusting than biting your nails!!!
Why is "phonics" not spelled the way it sounds?

Ohhhhh i'm so glad i'm not alone in my addiction with nail polish

i have to have my nails painted , i have that many bottles i could suppy Superdrug !!!!
I bit my nails right up to my 30s ....... really bad right down to the quick they were always very red and sore , then i looked at my friends beautiful nails and thought i want to have nails just like her, it was a long hard struggle but i got there.

At this time of year i can be often seen with alternate red & green sparkly nails , or silver & gold , and as for going without polish on my toe nails, NEVER !!!

I bit mine until I was 38, stopped when I was pregnant, stopped 5 years later when I got married and then again about 6 months ago (this is the longest) and treated myself to some nail varnish and think hubby has bought me some. I hopefully will not bite them again, as loving having them long

I used to bite my nails all the time until I stopped smoking 2 years ago, not sure why it happened at the same time but my nails have grown lovely and they are soooo strong
I too have a nail varnish fetish, I am always painting my nails different colours, at the minute they are a very dark brown x x x
    Is it Friday yet?

yep am same as everyone else - go through phases and occasionally look at them and they are nice and long. The only way I can keep them is to paint them and keep them nice. Then one breaks and that is the slippery slope...

I also have in the past gone to get them done nicely - if you use the gels (they just paint it on over the top) rather than the acrilics - then it doesn't ruin the nails - they still grow strong underneath. I've used this in the past when they have started growing a bit and I've wanted to save them. Does weaken them a little but not much and they look very nice!

I used to bite mine until just before I got married ... you know that photo they do with the rings?

I couldn't bear my hands to look awful so I bought some buffing pads and grew them for the photos.

I've got out of the habit now and leave them alone.

Buy yourself some nail varnish and be proud of them!!

i bite mine all my family do!

i hate them and am embarrassed of how they look and often try to hide them.

the funny thing is though i CAN grow them and do now and again for about 6 months or so at a time and then i get a bit stressed or i grow them a bit too long and they start to break and thats when i nibble and once i start i cant stop and bite them all off.

but even when i grow them they still dont look nice as because they have always been bitten so low down the white bit that grows looks silly if you know what i mean.

    I bite mine.
I didn't bite them while pregnant though, I was ill in hospital several times and had canulas in the backs of my hands so I couldn't get the right angle to bite my nails without it hurting where the needle was. I didn't bite them again until after DS was born.

I bite mine and hate it. Was desperate to grow them for xmas but they're worse than ever. I can grow them for a while but if one breaks and I try to bite off the sharp bit the whole lot follow. Its a disgusting habbit i've done it since I was 2 apparently :-(
