    Default SUNDAY ROAST

Everyone I know used to have a Sunday Roast with out fail

    Do you have one ?

Do you make sure its the one day of the week where you do all sit down and eat?

Do you do one now and again ?

    Do you not bother?

    Do you miss it ?

    Do you always bother ?

Or do you go out for a carvery - which always seems popular

We dont have one every week and I really love my Sunday Roast but sometimes its just not worth it if we have plans or only a few of us at home

    So what about you ?

DD recently told me that they'd been talking at school about who has a roast dinner every Sunday. She was the only one who didn't put her hand up. When the teacher asked why, DD told her that it was because we were a big family & couldn't always afford it!!!!!! I said didn't you tell her it's because we're busy on a Sunday, so have it on a Monday instead? She said no, she hadn't thought of that!
Oh, the shame! I was half expecting a charity handout when they did their Harvest festival food collection!

When my children were small we always had a Sunday Roast but times have changed.
I prefer to do a meal that doesn't involve so many pots and pans on a Sunday now because of the clearing up!
Monday morning I need 1hr at least to get everything childminding out, toys, mats, cots etc put up gates, sort the downstairs loo out with all the necessary stuff, put seats and buggy in car, hoover, you all know the ropes.
I can not stand coming down in the morning to a messy kitchen!
Also, my teenagers come and go so I'm not always sure who will be around for meals at the weekend!
The only Roast I can be sure of them showing their faces for is Christmas Lunch!

Weekends are so busy - DH and teens off all over the place.

If we are all in we have it in the evening but more likely we have one midweek if I have been in to prep it first and put meat in when I am working so it can be ready not long after as I work till 6.

If we had a dishwasher I might be more tempted too - hate all the pans

as ds is at uni and dh works away we never have all of us here during the week, so sunday is the only day we can do a big sit down family meal,
    i don;'t always do a roast but 3 out of 4 weeks i do

always the works roast pots and stuffing and loads of veg and yorkshire puds if i have had time and the rule is i DO NOT clean the kitchen that is hubby's job

but we always sit together at the table even if it's just me and the girls we never have meals on our laps in the sitting room.

We don't have one every week, usually because we're busy or we have something else. If we eat out on a Sunday i always get a roast though.

Until I started minding we had one every sunday without fail. Now I do it on a Monday instead. Just find it a lot easier that way. Plus Monday night is one of the few nights that DH does the washing up as well!!!

    We have one every sunday.

We all go over to my mams and she does it.

Sometimes there is 11 of us for lunch, mam cooks and we all do the dishes and tidying up.

We have roast dinners some times - sometimes it happens on a sunday usually not. We always eat together whatever we have. I quite like doing roasts though, cos they are the simplest meal to cook and only use the one pan in the halogen oven and the steamer so not much mess.
We are not a family for tradition though, we eat what we fancy when we want it.
