I get SO nervous about doing the craft for our CM group

This is ridiculous as I've been worrying about it all night and first thing in the morning I'm thinking about it.

Was going to do hedgehogs but the age range of kids is from 1yr old to 4yr olds and that won't be safe for the little ones.

Needs something that is simple to do, dramatic and no mess as my mindee does like to hang onto my leg and cry if I move away from him.

Just feel that everyone will be judging me and thinking I'm totally rubbish

Maybe I'll do pumpkins ?

I got my LOs to glue crushed shredded wheat onto our hedgehogs.

or do hedgehogs with playdough and cut straws (cut them curved so that no sharp ends) ??

I know I'm being silly about the craft, it's nerve wracking enough without having a leg hugging mindee.
The thing is he only cries at this group. All other groups he just gets on with it.

does it matter if they try to eat the shredded wheat - unless they have a particular allergy its just all part of the fun.
How about using twiglets in marzipan - edible hedgehogs ( as long as you like marmite! bleurgh!)

You could have an outline of a Hedgehog on paper/card and then pour blobs of different shades of brown onto the paper. Then get the children to drag objects through the paint to make the spikes, such as cardboard combs, pine cones, twigs etc etc.

Or instead of using paint you could get the children to glue leaves onto the outline to create the look of spikes.

Thanks for all the ideas, I've found a hedgehog template so may use the shredded wheat and leaves ideas. I've got a load of EVA foam sheets that I can use

what we did was stick spikey brown,red,yellow leaves on the paper and drew a pointy nose and it looks like a heagehog , looks very creative with the different colours,..

I stuck long spagetti on the back of my hedgehogs and they looked good.

Well, spent all today cutting out hedgehog shapes, little noses and eyes for the children to stick and they have a choice of spaghetti or shredded wheat.

Multicoloured hedgehogs but it will have to do

the CM group I used to go to .... we took it in turns to provide craft but it was up to each CM to carry out the activity and supervise their own mindees, if this is how yours works then you do not have to worry about your lo hanging off your leg, set it out do an example and leave them to get on with it.
