    Default Embarrassing or what!!

Ok, maybe I ought to explain first that I have a baby daughter (she's adorable btw )

I had the first day of my first aid update course today and we were re-learning resuscitation. I thought to myself that I'd choose a baby dummy instead of a child one so, if the worst ever happened to my little one, I'd have practised it.
Only I couldn't get that thought out of my head once it was there. And the more I thought about it, the more that dummy came to symbolise my own baby.

In the end, I actually ended up picking up the baby dummy and cuddling it, tears streaming down my face because it wasn't alive Heaven only knows what the rest of them thought!

Oh dear! I have to go back for the 2nd half of the course next week and I don't know where I shall put my face!

I don't suppose anyone else has been daft enough to become emotionally attached to a rescusitation dummy? Or do I need to think about some serious psychiatric help?!

It's not so bad, it takes imagination, empathy, sensitivity and a caring nature to have that reaction. You have a lucky daughter!

when I did my first ever first aid course, they called the child size dummy 'Toby'

The woman demonstrated by going to the dummy, tapping its shoulder and calling 'Toby'. That's my sons name and it really was not a nice feeling - I didn't cry though

Celyn, I have had to leave the room before when we were doing safeguarding as I got really upset.

You won't have been the only one in the room with thoughts going through your head that what you have been talking about or the resuss dummy symbolises or represents your own child. I think its testament to how empathic you are towards and that is what makes you a fabulous mummy and a terrific childcarer.

don't feel embarressed - sending you a huggy xxxx

i think we are all a bit soft when it comes to dolls and what they represent.

i am anyway, i can't even throw or stuff a doll into a toy box! it has to be upright and looking 'comfy', neither can i leave one in the outside playhouse overnight (in case it gets cold)

and i dint even have my own kids! lol.

Thank you! I'm feeling a little less like putting a paperbag over my head today

I think they've stopped giving the dummy a name now, probably for that reason Pixie - how absolutely horrible for you!
