Fed up with moany people!

Do you know what, I am sick of turning on the news only to hear someone from another country (usually, but not always) moaning about how they have 20ft of snow 6 months of the year every year and they don't make all this fuss, they can get around and aeroplanes take off, etc etc.

Well, this isn't normal for us so we're not exactly going to buy all of the snow ploughs and de-icing equipment that they have! We don't have the clothes for this, the same vehicles, experience, etc.

I'm sorry but it's getting on my wick! Does every time this happens! Aaaaagh!

It is just if you are used to it it is incredible to see how badly prepared everyone is..BUT I agree that you dont have the equipment etc because it is not usually needed and wouldt make much sense to have....

We have better things to spend our money on and (dare I say) better things to worry about than snow!! Do you know we hardly get any snow especially futher south - this weather is rare for us... last year we only had about 2 days of heavy snow .. that's it! 2 days - so why would we need to be prepared if for the next 10 years we only get a flake or 2

I got a free newspaper with my food shopping yesterday and read it. I couldn't believe the world was carrying on with the snow!!! as that is all the news channels show us but believe it or not there was loads of other interesting news in there.

I agree if we had gritters and snow ploughs to deal with this for the limited time we get the snow as bad as this, then people would moan that we had a load of stuff sat idle and it was money going to waste! And it would probably all have broken down with lack of use so not be ready anyway!!!!

I guess that is one time when childminding is useful because we are not having to decide whether to risk going out to work or not!

We could have the old grit bins placed around that we used to have.

People would not mind throwing it on the roads themselves. The old lady who lives next door to me because she cannot walk on the paths because of the ice.

My DH went and cleared her path for her so at least she can walk into her garden.

we still have the grit bins here wendy, theres 3 of them within 60 seconds wlaking distance from my house

You might have the grit bins...but do they contain any grit? Around here they get emptied within a few hours as everyone helps themselves for their driveways, but that bin is needed for the steep hill.
