    Default It’s the weekend

It’s looking like it’s going to be a wet and miserable weekend here so I’m glad I went out & about yesterday. Apart from a top up food shop this morning, I’m not planning on leaving the house!

Has anyone got anything planned for Halloween? We normally carve pumpkins to put them outside the house, so children know they can come and knock. This year I haven’t bought pumpkins or sweets so I’m hoping for a quiet night! My grandson is here for the weekend so we’ve arranged a Halloween treasure hunt for him, but that’ll be as much as we do.

This evening we were having the family round for a quiz night, but that’s now been changed to a Zoom quiz, with everyone staying in their own homes. We’re practicing for if we go into a full lockdown next week

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

    Morning!

We have visitors staying so just pottering around and not doing much.

We don't do Halloween as such! ... I do it whilst I'm working, but not otherwise.

I was planning on doing a big shop on Monday, so I hope there is food
    left in the shops!

We don't have any plans. DD is carving pumpkins as I type, but we're not going to put them on our doorstep because we don't want trick or treaters this year. She has some ghost shaped marshmallows so we'll toast them this evening. I normally do some cooking with pumpkin - soup, risotto, pie etc but I haven't got into it this year.

I really want to pop out to a local charity shop that I walk past most days on my walk. I can never pop in because I either have the dog or my mindee with me. I guess we'll watch Strictly, and we still haven't watched the latest episode of Bake off.

I want to get DD a calligraphy set for Christmas, but there are so many on amazon and I just can't decide which kit would be more useful and which one is full of gimmicks. I think I'll research that tonight.

I haven’t done pumpkin this year. All my mindees are local and usually call for sweets but they aren’t doing it this year. I do pumpkins normally but leave them on show indoors by the window. My daughter carved a really beautiful one once. A boy that knocked, was a bit heavy handed and greedy and I said be careful as I nearly dropped the box. Then I realised he had taken the pumpkin and thrown it on the road and smashed it! What made it worse was that his parent was with him. This year I’m putting on bat wings and going to knock on my grandsons door and give them sweets as they can’t go out but are dressing up anyway
