    Default Good morning Thursday

My final minded child is returning today, so it’ll be a full house here! The others don’t know she’s coming so they’re going to be very excited when they see her - they keep asking where she is. It’ll be lovely to have the little gang back together again

This week I’ve had quite a few enquiries for childcare and fellow childminders have said the same. Have any of you noticed an increase in enquiries? A lot of them seem to be for funded children where parents don’t want to send the children to a nursery. The thought of a bigger setting does seem to be putting some parents off. From September one of my minded children will do their full 30 hours with me rather than at the school nursery (although that had been decided long before coronavirus ) but another parent is undecided. Their child has been offered a place at the school nursery but the parent is reluctant sign up just yet. I think they want to wait and see how the nursery is planning to manage a large number of children. It must be a worrying time for a lot of parents.

What’s everyone got planned for today? It’s wet and miserable here so we’ll have a cosy day indoors. The children have all had birthdays while we’ve been in lockdown so we’re going to have a belated birthday lunch...with cake

    Have good days everyone!

Have a good day Mouse, that is so lovely you will have your gang together, and to celebrate with cake!

Mine have been excited each time someone has returned. Although one is not returning, he'll be staying at preschool as mums work has changed, and I just can't do the new days. She wanted him to stay with me, but in that we still don't quite know what will be happening in september with sharing settings, preschool were pushing for an answer. I said IF it comes to it, and IF i have a space, and he can come back as sharing settings allowed, then he can come back! Just been listening to the radio and hearing someone say that in september, each school year will be it's own 'bubble' .... fine for school ... but where does that leave us? !!!!

I've alot of enquiries too, but pretty much ALL BABIES!!!! wanting anything from now to this time next year, AND then, a mum wanting 2 days a week after school from September 2021 !!! She said ' when i rang you last year, you said to get in touch closer to the time ' ... YES, maybe summer 2021 !!!! nothing like planning ahead! She was a bit disappointed that i couldn't give her an answer. i said i had no idea what was happening THIS september yet, due to everything, and once I had 20/21 sorted, and any sort of idea for sept 21, i would let her know! I do have her on my plan as a posible ... i just have no idea if i have space yet !!! I did suggest that IF i had space this year, then she could take it/pay for it when space arrives and then she would know she had it ... but she wasn't keen on that! However, that might be the route I go down! Usually children move on for September, but he needs a reception space, and the 5-7 spaces arrive as other children turn 8, so it might be that 'her space' becomes available in the summer! but who knows!

One of my little ones arrived today ... and asked to go to bed! so he is having a little snooze! I have another one arriving in a bit, so i'll get first one up, quick snack, and although it is a bit drizzly, we're off to the zoo! I'm a bit nervous about going out, but 99% of people are great, and its been lovely to be out and about! I don't think i'd realised quite how stir crazy i was going, only being at home for 3 months with the minded children! I'm lucky i was only working 2/3 days, and had days i could go out for walks, as i think working full time would not have been much good! I like being at home and playing, but like to get out and about each day too!

Shopping being delivered this morning. Then out for a walk with a yr5 minder who hasn’t come back yet. So just her for a few hours today. Then out for a walk with a friend to end the day. Enjoy your Thursday everyone

Lots of tidying and admin to do today. DH is going to do the food shop. It obviously takes a huge chunk out of the day now with having to queue outside for so long.

So tired today. DH swapped our winter duvet for a summer duvet when we had the heatwave, but last night it felt like Siberia in our bedroom, but I was too tired to get up and get an extra blanket but too cold to sleep or stay asleep. Then the foxes kicked off at 4.30am which woke the dog who kept us awake with his barking for ages.

I'm rather shocked at the government's plans for schools in September. To me it just sounds as if they are saying, sorry - there's no money for extra teachers or rooms so you'll just have to get on with it with your big class sizes and small rooms. I'm not sure they should bring fines back in just yet either. If whole year groups are bubbles are they still going to close bubbles each time one person shows symptoms? It will be very disruptive, but I have no idea what an alternative solution would be.

Mouse it's so sweet that you are having belated birthday cake. Loocyloo enjoy the zoo! I'm so jealous. Sylvia enjoy your walk with the year 5 mindee. We have a year 5 girl across the road and I feel so sorry for her - the only other two children on the close - her brother and my DD - are both in year groups who have gone back to school and she just looks so bored now. Obviously she wasn't allowed to socialise with DD but we always bump into her at the school carpark and her brother and my DD would run excitedly into school and she would just have to get back in the car with her granny to spend the day at home. I bet your mindee is so glad of a break in the monotony Sylvia.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

One of mine has been back a while now but it was mum's first day physically back at work today rather than working from home so she was all a bit rushed this morning trying to get back in to the routine of going to work! The weather is a bit cloudy here today so we will just see what the day brings no real plans, later I will go and pick up my shopping as we do click and collect now as it saves a lot of time.

Enjoy your outings we haven't been out for such a long time now as our LA advised against it but I think in the latest updates from the DFE it did say that we could go out as long as we social distanced.

Maza. She brought knitting with her! She has taught herself using tube video. We haven’t stopped chatting yet either. I’m loving her company
