    Default Good morning Thursday

It’s Thursday- I must remember to put the bins out tonight! It seems strange that despite there being more of us at home all the time, we actually have much less rubbish than normal. I know we’re wasting very little food and there’s no rubbish from childminding, but I still haven’t figured out why there’s so much less...or why there’s so much more in ‘normal’ times. It’s given me something to think about and learn from!

So, who watched Sewing Bee last night? Have you got any favourites yet or is it too soon to tell? There did seem to be more ‘characters’ than normal and one in particular did annoy me a little. I hope the personalities won’t overshadow the sewing and that it hasn’t changed too much now that it’s moved channel. It’s always had a quaint charm to it and I wouldn’t want to see it lose that.

I think the weather forecast for today is good, so I’m going to go for a walk earlier today, before it gets too hot, then spend some time in the garden just sitting and relaxing. Have good days, whatever you’re doing, and stay safe

    good morning!

I'm up early this morning ( well, i'd usually be up early, but not working today, so thought i'd have a lie in ... but my brain doesn't seem to agree! )

I enjoyed sewing bee last night, i think the right person went home. i liked her, but she seemed a touch out of her depth. I think a couple of them are brilliant, and a couple are VERY annoying already! i was fascinated with all the takes on the tea dress. It seemed to be the same as usual, and at least, has kept the same judges and host as last year! I do like the chap who hosts, i think he's great.

Our weather forecast is good too, i've a few jobs i want to get on with, and then who knows? !!!! I'm going to come up with a 'plan of action' as one of my minded children is now not attending as dad is self isolating long term, so i'm only working 1 day a week ( although i've said i'm available for the 3 days if needed ) so, i need some routine and plan! I'm taking this as a positive, as usually, when i have time off work, It's because we're going away, or DD is dancing ( !!!! ) and i don't ever really get much time to just 'be' at home.

    Take everyone, stay safe

Morning! My brain has gone back to normal get up time so I’m up at half 6 again! Got a food delivery this morning which seems to have most of what I ordered. Then I’m sorting out the toy shed and bringing in stuff that we took out when we decorated the conservatory. Then I’ll do my pilates class that the teacher is emailing to us.
Does anybody know if I can use onion granules to make onion salt. It’s the one thing not coming on the shopping and DP wants to make a recipe that needs it. I’m not queuing for an hour to get it in the supermarket either!!
    Have a good day

We loved the tea dance dresses too. I think the 50s is my favourite era for ladies clothes (another reason why I love Call the Midwife). I think the young guy who sewed the zip on the wrong way was lucky to stay. We saw the female judge, Esme, at the knitting and sewing show last year as she was judging a competition. She seemed absolutely lovely and was really approachable and patient as lots of people were asking for their photos to be taken with her after the event.

DH is doing the weekly shop today. DD and I will be doing quite a bit of school work. When we got the set of stuff sent to us from school on Monday it didn't look like that much, but I can't believe it's Thursday already and we have got stuff beginning to pile up. We're all quite chilled about it, but I don't want to let too much slip by.

I succumbed and ordered two pairs of trousers/joggers for DD. She has had such a growth spurt. At the start of lockdown I was thinking there was no point as no one would see her and it was nice that she was finally getting proper wear out of her clothes. It was getting ridiculous though, not that she gives two hoots!

I saw a post on fb about a challenge to recreate a book cover with things we have at home. So im saying that is literature and art done for the day

Good morning, I missed the programme last night, but it will be lovely to catch up on when I take myself off for a moment on my own.
I can’t sleep in beyond 6.30 so we were up and out by 7.00 this morning, I do appreciate that I now live in the countryside through all of this and walks from our house are easy to find, if not a bit hilly at times!
We looked over a main road into the Lakes from the top of a hill and saw a car with a roof box and a bmx bike being turned around by the police at about 8 am. The exercise legislation is so confusing, I know in an ideal world we should all just stay in and only walk from our front door...but the releasing of the Police interpretation has made people feel they can drive and then walk/ cycle. But I couldn’t help but feel that the person in the car might live in an urban area, with no garden, balcony and nowhere close to ride his bike safely...only about an hour away possibly... He would be keeping within the latest Police advice...but Cumbria think let one person, then everyone will come, like they did initially, so they are vigilant and stop cars not registered in this area. They regularly visit holiday homes too, a couple of friends have holiday cottages, converted barn etc...and they have had late night/ early morning spot checks that nobody is there. One friend who has an adjoining converted barn with a door through from the main home was planning that if they caught the virus that person would stay through the door at the end of the landing as they have no spare beds in their home....but when she said it to the police they told her that it wouldn’t be allowed...they have decided though to ignore this advice, but hopefully, no one will catch it so they won’t have to!
Is your DD set work for the week Maza? Does anyone actually mark the work? I see a lot of farmers children out in the fields, riding quad bikes, delivering food to the sheep and lambs etc...I think school work seems to be on a back burner around here.
A lovely day though so I am going to sit in the garden and prepare some weaving frame twigs With string and wool to deliver to my toddler group children on a bike ride out ...I’m thinking they can just fill it with twigs and leaves and petals.
I am trying to create activities about once a fortnight for something different to do...any suggestions would be well received!

Afternoon everyone, we have a lovely sunny day here too. I watched Sewing Bee last night, I haven't watched it before but I did enjoy it. I like the idea of sewing but past efforts haven't been very successful My mum bought me a sewing machine a few years back as she has always sewn but she has since borrowed it back on a long term basis as her machine no longer worked.

Can't believe it's Thursday again, DH is really struggling being at home and not going out, not that he normally goes out much anyway it's the very fact that he can't just go out that's causing him issues.

Yes Floradora, she is being sent work each Monday. They have provided answers to the Maths questions, so we mark our own. There is a short presentation to watch each day for Maths too (set by the White Rose scheme, so not the teacher's voice). They have a weekly online interactive reading thing with comprehension questions and then a WW2 activity set each week. Collective Worship/assemblies are also posted on the website and they are the Headteacher's voice and are actually quite sweet.

I'm still on the parent's WhatsApp for her old school and they are doing a LOT more, plus the parents are putting the teachers under a lot of pressure to mark the work somehow. From this week they are sticking to the timetable and having live zoom lessons for all subjects. The old school where I work is somewhere in between the two. Many parents are surprised (dare I say disappointed) at how quickly the children are getting through the work. They were expecting the children to be occupied until 3/3.30pm! They didn't realise how much of the school day is taken up with breaks, milk and fruit time, moving from one room to another, generally settling down to lessons etc.

That is absolutely shocking that the police told your friend that they couldn't use their adjoining barn to isolate in!
